Dr. Johansson is a board-certified Family Practitioner who completed his residency training at Swedish Covenant Hospital under the tutelage of Dr. Plunkett. He joined Viking Medical in January 2001. Dr. Johansson is a a graduate of the University of Gothenburg Medical School in Gothenburg, Sweden. While at medical school, Dr. Johansson was actively involved in research in the areas of neurophysiology and pain modulation, acting as a teaching assistant during his final two years in medical school. Upon completion of medical school, he completed a six-month internship in Norway before coming the Swedish Covenant Hospital. Dr. Johansson was the resident of the year during his final year at Swedish Covenant.

Practice Goals:

Dr. Johansson believes in giving high quality personal care to all his patients. His interests range from pediatrics to geriatrics, sports medicine, and acute care. His openness and approachability allow for an open pathway of communication between him and his patients, promoting an overall improvement in health.

Personal Information:

Dr. Johansson was raised in both upstate New York and Montreal, Canada. He attended Syracuse University on an athletic scholarship and was an academic all-American; he captained the university's soccer team. Dr. Johansson played professionally for two years before entering medical school. He remains an active sports enthusiast and parlays that into a strong interest in sports medicine. Dr. Johansson strongly believes that maintaining an active lifestyle goes a long way in the prevention of disease.

Appointment Hours:

Mon    9- 11:30am & 1 - 3pm
Tue     9am - 4:30pm

Wed     1 - 7pm
Thur     9- 11:30am & 1:30 - 5pm

Fri     No office hours
Sat     8 - 12noon

Appointments are scheduled for the above hours. We try to stay on schedule as much as possible so please call if you think you will be late or if you are unable to keep your appointment.  The office closes for lunch.

Contacting the Doctor:

Any URGENT problems arising after office hours will be relayed to Dr. Johansson by the answering service. During office hours, the office staff will take your name & phone number and Dr. Johansson will call you back by the end of the day. Of course urgent calls will be given directly to the doctor.

Test Results:

Patients are to call, two to three working days after any test is taken, to discuss the results with Dr. Johansson. Please consult the appointment hours above. Because we assume you to be responsible for your health, we expect you to contact us for your results.  WE DO NOT routinely call patients with their results, so do not assume that your tests were normal because you did not hear from us.

General Insurance Information:

If you have an insurance plan that Dr. Johansson contracts with and that requires pre-approval when having tests or when being referred to another physician, YOU ARE EXPECTED to alert us to this fact EACH TIME we ask you to have to have a test or we ask you to see another doctor.  It is your insurance and your responsibility.  Do not expect the office personnel to know all of your insurance’s peculiarities.

Payments:

We will submit a claim for your visit to your PRIMARY insurance.  If Medicare is not your primary insurance and you have a secondary insurance, you will be responsible for submitting claims to your secondary insurance.  Co-payments, if required, are expected to be paid at the time of your arrival.  We accept cash, checks and credit cards (MasterCard and Visa).

Parking:

Parking is available in the hospital garage. The entrance is just south of our building. If you park on the 3rd level you can walk across the bridge to enter our building. We are located on the 4th floor.
